The Craft

Every painting begins as loose pigment and water on heavy cotton paper, and ends as a finished, framed object ready to hang. This page shows what goes into that journey.

I paint wet-on-wet on professional-grade watercolour paper, working at large scale so the washes can move and settle naturally. The paper is then stretched taut over a wooden frame, sealed with a UV-protective archival varnish, and set into a handmade floating frame — no glass, no glare, just the surface of the painting itself.

Materials matter at this scale: artist-quality pigments chosen for lightfastness, 100% cotton paper heavy enough to hold repeated washes, and frames finished to gallery standard.
